Course Overview

Level 2 Food safety in catering (FSC) 6 Hrs

The course is designed to equip learners with the skills, knowledge and confidence to help your staff work in food workplaces or care and nursing homes. This course is used all work places with a need a qualification in food safety. All Staff working with in food need to complete food safety training.

The topics covered include:

  • Problems of poor food safety in the workplace
  • Trend in food poisoning
  • Ways in which food becomes contaminated
  • Types of food bacteria
  • Binary fission
  • High/low risk foods
  • Temperature control
  • Handwashing and personal protective clothing
  • Cleaning
  • Pest prevention
  • HACCP completion

    With years of experience dealing with real life emergencies, our expert trainers draw on their own experiences to make learning fun and memorable. Our trainers have up to date subject knowledge and come from a food catering back round. This ensures that learners leave with the confidence and vital skills needed to deal with the wide range of situations.

    Assessment and Certification

    The course consists of 6-hours contact time. Successful candidates will receive a Level 2 Food Safety in Catering certificate. This is valid for a period of 3 years.


    Entry requirements

    All learners must be at least 16 years old and possess reasonable numeracy and literacy skills. Have an interest in care and willing to learn some new skills

    Refresher Training

    We recommend a 3-yearly refresher training to keep learners skills current and up to date.
