Infection Control Awareness
Course Overview
Infection control (ICA) 2 Hrs
The course is designed to equip learners with the skills, knowledge and confidence to help your staff, customers and family reduce down the risk of infection. This course is used by surgeries and health care workers to comply with CQC standards. Event personnel also require under HSE guidelines to complete this course.
The topics covered include:
- Cost of poor infection control
- Chain of infection
- Types of bacteria & Viruses
- Ways in which infections travel
- Personal protected clothing
- Hand washing & care
- Cleaning
- Linen handling
- Dealing with waste
- Sharps
With years of experience dealing with real life emergencies, our expert trainers draw on their own experiences to make learning fun and memorable. Our trainers have up to date subject knowledge and come from a care/NHS back round. This ensures that learners leave with the confidence and vital skills needed to deal with the wide range of situations.
Assessment and Certification
The course consists of 2 hours contact time. Successful candidates will receive an Infection Control Awareness (ICA) certificate. This is valid for a period of 1 year.
Entry requirements
All learners must be at least 16 years old and possess reasonable numeracy and literacy skills. Have an interest in care and willing to learn some new skills
Refresher Training
We recommend a yearly refresher training to keep learners skills current and up to date.
